Minyan Xu: Two Decades on the Gem Trail

In the world of high jewelry, the value of a piece is often measured by its carat weight or clarity. But at FROST DIAMOND, we believe the true weight of a gemstone is measured by the journey it has taken—and the eye that discovered it.

That journey belongs to our founder, Minyan Xu.

The Pursuit of Rarity

For two decades, Minyan Xu has traversed three continents in search of nature’s finest miracles. Her path has led her from the jadeite mines of Myanmar, where she learned to read the “skin” of a raw stone, to the polished auction houses of Geneva and New York. This global perspective allows FROST DIAMOND to offer what few can: direct access to the world’s most coveted gemstones.

A Return to the Orient

Despite her global footprint, her heart remained rooted in the East. Witnessing the intricate craftsmanship of local artisans, she realized a pressing need: to preserve the “Soul of the East” in an era of mass production. In 2007, she established FROST DIAMOND on Shanghai’s Bund, with a singular mission—to create heirlooms that honor Chinese aesthetics while meeting international standards of excellence.

The Eye of the Connoisseur

Minyan Xu’s expertise goes beyond mere acquisition. She possesses a rare ability to envision the final masterpiece within a rough crystal. Under her guidance, every diamond is scrutinized for its D-F color and VVS clarity, not just for brilliance, but for its potential to embody an artistic vision.

It is this blend of geological rigor and artistic soul that defines every creation at FROST DIAMOND.
